As a dentist, I care for everyone’s overall oral health whether you are my patient or not.

So, I just want to share some simple dental tips for the sake of everyone’s oral health:

  • First, you have to wait for 30 minutes after meal before brushing your teeth. Proper timing is very important in brushing my dear reader.
  • Second, don’t brush too hard for it might cause toothbrush abrasion or Class V dental caries. These dental caries are the ones in cervical part of the teeth. Remember the Filipino saying that “Lahat ng sobra ay masama.” Other people usually thought that brushing too hard will help to make your teeth free from cavities. This is a misconception. Please save yourself dear reader “Pakiusap, huwag madiin magbrush.”
  • Third, if you are already a parent please train your kid at a young age to develop and establish a friendly connection with your trusted dentist.ย It is advised to visit after the appearance of the first tooth. So, for those parents who are reading this, always remember that prevention is better than cure. Save your kids oral health. Have your kids take oral prophylaxisย to clean your child’s teeth and professional fluoride treatment to strengthen the teeth. Also, teach your kids how to brush properly. (Usually here in the Philippines, the kids are being traumatized because the pediatric patient’s first visit in the dentist is during his or her tooth extraction. Sometimes doing surgical procedure like this gives anxiety to the child.)
  • Last but not the least, visit and have your dental consultation in your trusted dentist every six months. (However, for orthodontic patients, please visit your orthodontist every month. For those who don’t know yet, orthodontic patients are those patients who have braces.)
